Topstone Park (Steichen Estate), Redding
Edward Steichen bought the roughly 400-acre Umpawaug farm in Redding in 1928 and lived there until his death in 1973, gardening, breeding delphiniums, and photographing the pond he dug. The Town of Redding purchased parkland from the estate in 1971, and Topstone Park preserves the landscape the Luxembourg-born photographer knew.
The farmhouse itself is private property; the park is the public face of the estate.
