1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Twin Cities Luxembourg American Society (“TCLAS”) website at twincities.lu (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. TCLAS reserves the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. About TCLAS
TCLAS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of Minnesota, dedicated to preserving and celebrating Luxembourger heritage in the Twin Cities and promoting connections between Minnesota and the Grand Duchy. The Site serves as our primary platform for membership, events, educational resources, and community engagement.
3. Eligibility
The Site is intended for users aged 13 and older. By using the Site, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age. Certain features (membership, event registration, story submissions) require you to be at least 18 years old or have parental consent.
4. Membership
A. Membership Tiers and Dues
TCLAS offers Individual, Household, Student/Senior, and Benefactor membership tiers. Current dues are listed on the Join Us page. Membership is annual and nonrefundable except at TCLAS’s discretion.
B. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
C. Member Benefits
Active membership provides access to the member directory, member profiles, ancestral commune map, members-only events, and other features as they become available. TCLAS reserves the right to modify member benefits with reasonable notice.
D. Cancellation
You may cancel your membership at any time by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused portions of a membership term.
5. Citizenship Eligibility Quiz
The eligibility quiz is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not legal advice. Quiz results are based on general interpretations of Luxembourg nationality law (Articles 7, 23, and 89) and may not reflect your specific circumstances.

- Quiz results do not guarantee eligibility for Luxembourg citizenship
- Luxembourg nationality law is subject to change and interpretation by Luxembourg authorities
- We strongly recommend consulting a qualified attorney or contacting Luxembourg’s Ministry of Justice before initiating any citizenship application
TCLAS assumes no liability for decisions made based on quiz results.
6. User-Generated Content
A. Story Submissions
By submitting a story, you:
- Grant TCLAS a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to display your story and photo on the Site for as long as you remain a member (or until you request removal)
- Represent that your submission is original, truthful, and does not infringe any third party’s rights
- Retain ownership of your content and may request its removal at any time by contacting us
B. Member Profiles
Profile information you provide (biography, photo, ancestral commune) is displayed only to other logged-in members. You control what information appears on your profile and may update or remove it at any time through the Member Hub.
C. Prohibited Content
You may not submit content that:
- Is defamatory, obscene, hateful, or discriminatory
- Harasses, threatens, or intimidates other members
- Infringes any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right
- Contains malware, spam, or commercial solicitations
- Violates any applicable law or regulation
TCLAS reserves the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, without prior notice.
7. Referral Program
Members may share a personal referral link to invite others to join TCLAS. The referral program is intended for genuine, personal recommendations only. Mass distribution, paid promotion, or misrepresentation of the referral link is prohibited. TCLAS reserves the right to modify or discontinue the referral program at any time.
8. Intellectual Property
A. TCLAS Content
All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, images, the TCLAS name and mark, newsletter content (The Loon & The Lion), and software — is the property of TCLAS or its content suppliers and is protected by United States and international copyright laws.
B. Limited License
You may view, download, and print pages from the Site for your own personal, noncommercial use, provided you do not modify the content or remove any copyright or proprietary notices. Any other use requires written permission from TCLAS.
C. Newsletter Content
Articles published in The Loon & The Lion are copyrighted by TCLAS and/or their respective authors. Sharing links is encouraged; reproducing full articles requires permission.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site contains links to external websites (genealogy resources, Luxembourg government sites, event partners, etc.). TCLAS does not control and is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of these external sites. Inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and all content, materials, and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. TCLAS does not warrant that:
- The Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Content is accurate, complete, or current
- Any particular result will be achieved from use of the Site or its features
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TCLAS, its board members, officers, volunteers, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Site
- Any errors or omissions in content
- Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Decisions made based on citizenship quiz results or other Site content
- Actions of other members or third parties
TCLAS’s total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site shall not exceed the amount of membership dues you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TCLAS, its board members, officers, volunteers, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party’s rights.
13. Privacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
15. Termination
TCLAS may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Site ceases immediately. Sections 5 (quiz disclaimer), 8 (intellectual property), 10–12 (disclaimers, liability, indemnification), and 14 (governing law) survive termination.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
