St. Mary’s Church, Port Washington

Ozaukee County, Wisconsin Churches & religious sites

St. Mary’s parish in Port Washington dates to Luxembourger families of 1847, and its landmark hilltop church was built starting in 1882 by Luxembourg immigrant parishioners under Fr. Henry Willmes — himself a Luxembourg immigrant. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and since 2003 has housed its own statue of Our Lady of Luxembourg, a gift from the Grand Duchy.
