Remsen, Iowa

Plymouth County, Iowa Luxembourgish roots

Remsen, in Plymouth County, was settled from the 1870s by Luxembourgish and German immigrants — many tracing back to villages of the Redingen commune. The town once styled itself ‘A Little Bit of Luxembourg in the U.S.,’ and it remains the home turf of the Luxembourg Heritage Society of Northwest Iowa.
