Aurora, Illinois — the Luxie Club

Luxembourgers began settling Aurora around 1850, many from the Canton of Echternach. In 1890, a hundred of them founded the Luxemburger Independent Club at Weiland Hall, and in 1917 the club built Luxemburger Hall on High Street — still operating today as the ‘Luxie Club,’ the only functioning Luxembourg clubhouse in the United States.
